Last evening, at the exact same time, the Hallmark and ABC Family channels showed the movie
The Parent Trap. But they were showing 2 different movies.
On Hallmark, there was The Parent Trap (1961) with Hayley Mills, Hayley Mills, Brian Keith, and Maureen O’Hara. On ABC Family, it was The Parent Trap (1998) with Lindsay Lohan, Lindsay Lohan, Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson.
Both movies feature the same basic story: twin girls separated as babies when their parents divorced, neither know she has a sister until they meet at summer camp. The rest of the movie includes teenage mischief and efforts to reunite the parents.
What did I watch? The U. S. Olympic Trials in women’s gymnastics. When the gymnastics ended, I switched to the Hallmark channel to listen to Brian Keith, Maureen O’Hara and Hayley Mills while I quilted. I love Dennis Quaid, but I’ve seen the 1998 version in the last year and opted for the original this time.
