This 96 gallon trash container was delivered to my curb today. I am so embarrassed to have this humongous container. My beat-up 32 gallon trash can has been put out less than half full every 3 or 4 weeks. 96 gallons will hold about 6 months worth of my trash, but who wants to keep trash for 6 months!
My homeowners association switched trash service providers to save money, when our old provider raised prices. The new provider has equipment to automatically dump this 96 gallon monster, reducing the number of employees needed. I’m glad that the homeowners association hires the trash service. It’s saved me a lot of money over the last decade.
I recycle as much as I can. Bridging the Gap, a local non-profit organization, has drop-off recycling locations that accept a wide variety of items and I just don’t make very many disposable purchases. Unfortunately, a few of my neighbors will fill their 96 gallon container every week.
Thankfully, this 96 gallon trash container has wheels. Even empty, it is heavy and hard to move. I think the lid alone weighs as much as my 32 gallon trash can. If I ever have 96 gallons of trash, I’m not sure I could wheel it to the curb!

I know this is an old post, but that’s pretty funny. The city I used to live in gave discounts on our water bill if we used their smaller can over their standard size. I was very happy to accept!
